How To Create Safety Within a Team of Any Size
I’m going to share one of the most liberating things I’ve learnt: If we don’t tell people what we want and what we need, how will they know?
Expressing what we want and need is not always easy, especially if we feel unsure about how our requests will be received. For a high-performance team, these communication skills are absolutely essential. In this blog we will explain why, and give you a FREE tool to start creating safety within your team, today.
What makes a safe space for communication?
Establishing trust within a relationship, whether that’s personal or professional, lays the foundation of being able to openly express ourselves without fear. This fear stifles
ideas, suggestions, creativity and risk taking, which are incredibly important for a company to regenerate, grow and thrive.
How to create a safe space for communication?
The first crucial step to creating a safe space within a team, is to do a Design your Team Alliance™️. This ORSC term essentially means your team will decide and write down, together, what you need from each other in order to be able to work and communicate effectively.
This Team Alliance is a mutual contract between everyone involved as to how you would like to be treated, to feel within the team, and to act when you experience challenges. This can be carried out with any team size, from two to 200!
We’ve created this step-by-step guide to creating a DTA with your team:
