All CRRUK courses contribute to continuing professional development
On completion of each module in the ORSC series participants earn between 12 and 18 ICF Continuing Coach Education (CCE) units. Those who complete all five module of the core ORSC curriculum, from Fundamentals to Systems Integration, earn 84 CCE units. Coaches who complete the ORSC Certification programme earn the ICF credential ‘ORSCC’ and an additional 99.5 CCE units.
International Coaching Federation (ICF) credentials
The International Coach Federation has been leading the development of professional coaching for more than a decade. An ICF credential demonstrates knowledge, skill, a commitment to high professional standards, and a strong code of ethics.
Anyone serious about building or maintaining a coaching business should pursue an ICF credential.
The ORSC curriculum is ICF accredited as coach-specific training hours and may be applied to obtain or renew any of the ICF’s three credentials:
- Associate Certified Coach (ACC)
- Professional Certified Coach (PCC)
- Master Certified Coach (MCC)
Completion of ORSC Certification provides the necessary CCEUs for ACC and PCC accreditation.
Once you have decided which of the three ICF credentials to pursue, the next step is to choose your application path. The ICF outlines three application paths for obtaining either ACC or PCC.
If you intend to pursue the ‘portfolio path’ to attain an ACC or PCC credential, the ICF requirements are as follows:
ACC portfolio path requirements
- At least 60 hours of coach-specific training with robust documentation.
- 10 hours of Mentor Coaching over a minimum of three months to be documented on your online application. Your Mentor Coach must be an ACC, PCC or MCC in good standing.
- Coaching log demonstrating 100 hours (75 paid) of coaching experience with at least eight clients following the start of your coach-specific training. At least 25 of these hours must occur within the 18 months prior to submitting the application for the credential.
- Performance evaluation (audio recording and written transcript of coaching session to be uploaded with your application).
Completion of the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA).
PCC portfolio path requirements
- At least 125 hours of coach-specific training with robust documentation.
- 10 hours of Mentor Coaching over a minimum of three months to be documented on your online application. Your Mentor Coach must be a PCC or MCC in good standing.
- Coaching log demonstrating 500 hours (450 paid) of coaching experience with at least 25 clients following the start of your coach-specific training. At least 50 of these hours must occur within the 18 months prior to submitting the application for the credential.
- Performance evaluation (two audio recordings and written transcripts of coaching sessions to be uploaded with your application).
- Completion of the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA).
We’ve created a free download that pulls together the ICF portfolio path guidelines, along with a list of general definitions, plus a template to log client coaching hours. Our document is aligned with the latest published information, but we recommend that you check the International Coaching Federation’s website for complete guidance to credentialing. You should also check with the ICF directly before applying, to ensure you meet the latest ICF requirements.
